What's included

Measurement tools

Lengths, areas and counts, with conditions, waste allowances and live totals, in metric or imperial units — the tools used on live projects.

Scale detection

AI-assisted scale detection where available, or calibrate from a known dimension. A detected scale is a suggestion you check before measuring.

PDF and CSV export

Marked-up PDFs and quantity spreadsheets for coursework, assessments and portfolios.

Solo-level features, for one person

The everyday features of our Solo plan on your own account. Team features such as shared workspaces aren't included.

Apply with your academic email
Tell us where you study or teach. An academic email address helps us verify you quickly; if you don't have one, apply anyway and tell us about your course.

We review your application
A member of our team checks every application, usually within 1–2 working days, and replies by email. Access is never switched on automatically.

Accept the terms and start measuring
Once you're approved, you accept the Education terms and can start your first takeoff — on your existing SolidTakeoff account if you have one.

The Education plan

Free, with no credit card, for verified students and academic staff at universities, colleges and vocational training providers worldwide.
Access lasts 12 months. Each year you confirm you're still studying or teaching.
One user, with up to 10 active projects, 50 drawings per project and 2 GB of storage. Archive finished projects to make room — archived projects are kept.
Exports carry the credit “Created with SolidTakeoff Education — For educational use only”.
For learning and educational use, not paid commercial work. You accept the Education terms before your access starts.

Using SolidTakeoff for paid or commercial work? Our Free, Solo and Team plans are designed for that.

For lecturers and course instructors

Academic staff can apply for the Education plan for themselves. If you'd like to use SolidTakeoff with a class, tell us about your course or module, how many students and when it starts. Classroom access is arranged on request and approved individually.

Questions

Who can apply?: Students and academic staff at universities, colleges and vocational training providers anywhere in the world, studying or teaching construction, quantity surveying, estimating, engineering or a construction trade. School-age education isn't included at present.
Do I need a new account?: No. If you already use SolidTakeoff, apply with the email you sign in with and tell us your academic email too. Applying doesn't change your current plan.
Can I use it for paid work?: No. Education is for learning and coursework. For paid or commercial work, see our Free, Solo and Team plans.
What happens after 12 months?: We ask you to confirm you're still studying or teaching. Your drawings and measurements aren't deleted, and you can move to Solo or Team at any time.
